Senior LCA Specialist/Project Manager

Are you looking to use your LCA skills and knowledge on LCI data to support international companies, governments and civil society organizations in developing more sustainable food supply chains? Mérieux NutriScience | Blonk is looking for an experienced LCA specialist with the focus on project management.

The successful candidate is responsible for developing high quality Life Cycle Inventories (LCIs) to be used in our LCA-database products and their applications (in consultancy projects). We are looking for someone that combines LCA expertise with knowledge on quality and client service, generates innovative solutions and takes responsibility.

What will you be doing as LCA Specialist?

To make decisions and reduce environmental footprint in the agro-food sector data is key. As a senior LCA specialist you support internal and external clients in creating high quality Life Cycle Inventories and LCA databases. In doing so you select and monitor relevant data sources, develop and apply calculation models in compliance with relevant LCA standards and ensure quality, efficiency and consistency in developing our LCIs. Specific products you may work for are Agri-footprint, Optimeal , APS-footprint, GFLI and EU Environmental Footprint (EF)  databases. You are key in being the point of contact for our consultants who perform or review LCA and PEFCR related studies, for our product managers who are responsible for our database products and for our external clients who have questions on how datasets have been modelled. You have ample room to develop new and robust LCA methodologies applicable to agricultural products to further improve the quality of our LCA databases.

Your profile

  • Completed university education in a scientific or engineering subject

  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of systems thinking

  • Able to translate complex LCA related content into understandable language for internal and external clients

  • Able to work with various datasets (different formats, sizes, etc)

  • Ability to understand client processes and make the connection with consultancy and/or IT-processes

  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)

  • Client-oriented and quality focus

  • Project management skills

  • Located in the Netherlands

Bonus points

  • A good command of Dutch and/or any other major language
  • Relevant contacts within the work field (like FAO, EC, industry associations and other data providers)

  • Knowledge of development of calculation models (e.g. in Python), ETLs, data(base)management

  • Passion for sustainability
